Sydney Ayers, APR, Fellow PRSA, has worked in agency public relations, marketing and advertising for more than 25 years. Through her association with some of the leading public relations and advertising firms in the Rocky Mountain region, she has served a wide variety of consumer and business-to-business clients on the local, regional, national and international levels.
Sydney recently reopened her Denver-based public relations firm after spending three years working for her client, Mitchell Communications Group of Fayetteville, Ark. Key clients have included Walmart, Tyson Foods, Sam’s Club, Colorado School of Mines, Frontier Airlines, Colorado Civil Rights Division, City of Longmont, Denver International Airport, Metropolitan State University of Denver, Jefferson County Public Library, Raytheon, Town of Erie and others.
She has significant experience working with government entities, public institutions and non-profit organizations. Noteworthy assignments have involved corporate social responsibility programs, community outreach, public affairs support, spokesperson training, special events, crisis communications and more. She has conducted media relations campaigns on the national, regional, local and hyper-local levels. She also has been involved in a number of sectors including retail, economic development, business and professional services, and technology.
Previously, Sydney was at Servoss Public Relations where she handled media relations, community outreach and special events for a variety of well-known clients including those in the technology, manufacturing and real estate sectors. She also worked with DDB Needham as an account executive and at a small local advertising and public relations firm, Neuwirth Koller, where she did everything from coordinating advertising copy to buying media to producing commercials.
An advocate for education, she is a member of Support Jeffco Kids, on the advisory board of College Track and coaches cross-country for Green Mountain High School in Lakewood. She also was a member of the Jefferson County Public Schools Legislative Forum and a board member for the Academy of Urban Learning, a Denver Public Schools charter school serving primarily homeless youth.
Active in her profession, Sydney is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America and was recently named to its prestigious College of Fellows. She is a past chairman of the Society’s Counselors Academy, a section devoted to serving high-level public relations counselors across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. She previously was president of the Colorado Chapter of PRSA and received its Chapter Service Award in 2006 and its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. Sydney is a graduate of Leadership Denver and was named Forty Under 40 by the Denver Business Journal.
